EXTORTIONISTS ARE EVIL, ESPECIALLY THE ONES WITH BADGES

Extortion is a very serious crime, that is unless you are a licensed extortionist, then you can just feel free to steal as much as you like.

The licensed extortionists try to soften it down by referring to it as "asset forfeiture".

From the federal government down to the little town council, our "representatives" have taken a law intended to financially cripple drug dealers and money launderers, and instead turned it into a "for profit" business.

As is the case over and over again, we get sold an idea that has merit, and once that idea becomes law, those in power skew it, abuse it, and use it with the broadest interpretations they can get away with.

From the city that sees it as a way to make up for lost revenue, to the counties who see it as a way to obtain new equipment, to the states who are always looking for money for their budgets, to the federal government whose law enforcement agencies get huge sums of money from asset seizure, they are all playing the legal stealing game.

And just as government on all levels is so well known for doing, once they find a way to steal more money from us, they will milk that cash cow until it is completely dead.

Believe it or not, there are some jurisdictions that actually pay their cops bonuses depending on how much money that cop generated for them with the asset seizures he had done.

   W.T.F.?

There are countless places across America where all you have to do is look "suspicious" to a cop, and he will take your money and valuables claiming they were ill gotten gains, and then it is your job to prove otherwise, and if the judge doesn't like your answer, too bad, bye bye money, thanks for stopping in, have a nice day.

Just like the towns who set up speed traps to get your money, these cops misuse the law to legally rob you of everything you have.

There are communities where people have gotten their homes seized because their grandchild was selling dime bags of pot from it.

People have their vehicles seized and auctioned off, leaving them without the means to go to work.

This is the same exact behavior that permeates our entire justice system, those that run the system and make up the rules are so disconnected from the public that they become cold hearted monsters, unable to feel any compassion or empathy, they no longer consider people as fellow humans, they see only opportunities to enrich their own interests.

They could not possibly care less about the chaos and destruction they are causing you, to them you are like an insect, just squash it and move on.

Our system is horribly broken, and I'm not sure it can be fixed. But I am sure of one thing, I'm sure that if this house of cards collapses, and society as we know it crumbles in pieces, then those people who had once been in power had better find a damn good hiding place, because you will be seeked out, and you absolutely will not want to be found.

Remember, payback's a bitch, and payday's coming.

TRAYVON DID NOT DIE IN VAIN

This is total  BULLSHIT. What the f*** was going through the questionably logical minds of those 6 jurors?

We know from her own testimony that at least one of them was a racist, and though 4 of the 5 remaining tried distancing themselves from her, it seems that there must be some common bond that allowed these women to all agree that a white man is perfectly within his rights to murder an unarmed black teenager who was walking home from the store.

I watched this trial  progress daily, I listened intently to witnesses testify, I tried as hard as possible to see the other side of the story.

What I ended up with in my own evaluations was that Zimmerman was not likely a candidate for 2nd degree murder, but his actions were exactly befitting the legal description of Floridas statute for manslaughter, basically gross indifference.

I will admit that I did not read the "stand your ground" law, but apparently it must go something like this.

" If an individual ignores directives from authorities and chooses instead to stalk and pursue innocent citizens in the imaginary belief that those citizens must be guilty of some criminal behavior performed at some place some where at some other time because those citizens are wearing a hooded sweatshirt while being part of a minority, then said individual has the right to confront and threaten said citizen, and if said citizen should object and attempt to flee from said individual, then said individual is within his rights to terminate said citizens life"

That must be the way the law is written, because after watching the evidence presented in the trial, including an uncle of Zimmerman lying outrageously under oath, a demonstration showing it to be impossible for Zimmerman to reach his gun in the position he stated he was in, the superficial wounds Zimmerman had after supposedly having been punched dozens of times and having his head slammed against concrete numerous times, the ever changing story he gave to police, etc., etc., etc.

Yes, the law must be written like that for 6 presumably non biased clear thinking rational human beings to render such a preposterous decision.

Zimmermans lawyer stating that if Treyvon was white and George was black, that this case would never have gone to trial is so f***ing stupid that I want to punch him in his lie spewing mouth. If a black adult stalked and murdered a white teen simply because he was suspicious looking to him, then that black man would be put to death by the ever loving state of Florida, and anybody who believes otherwise is fooling themselves.

I knew that Florida was a f***ed up state, but I didn't realize it was this bad, if I never set foot in it again it will be fine with me.

And for Zimmerman, regardless of the federal government charging him or not, the court of public opinion has made itself very, very clear, George Zimmernan is a cold hearted murderer, he is a racist bigoted vigilante who took the life of an innocent child.

I take a strange pleasure in knowing that Zimmerman will spend the rest of his life knowing he is one of the most hated individuals in human history, hated by countless millions of people around the world.

I also find it pleasing to know that Zimmerman will spend the rest of his life having to always be aware that many would enjoy his removal from amongst the living, and that perhaps one day some vigilante will re-enact the same murderous actions on him that he got away with, and wouldn't it be ironic for a Florida jury to find that person not guilty.

This event is just the most current in an ongoing saga of racial inequality in America, minorities were, are, and will continue to be treated as second class citizens as long as we allow the small minded bigots to have any say in our country.

Things like voter suppression are directly aimed at stifling the minority vote, and where is that voter suppression coming from? It's coming from the GOP!

Not all GOP are racists, but all racists seem to be GOP.

The supreme court said there was no longer a need for part 4 of the voting rights act, who do these GOP justices think they're fooling? They are oozing over with their not so well hidden political agenda.

In a previous blog I warned of a GOP that was pulling out all of the stops in a war they were preparing to wage in 2014 and 2016. We liberals need to unite in numbers and crush those anti-American bigots now, and we need to continue silencing their hate filled voices until this nation rids itself of this putrid vermin.

When Americans come to realize that we are ALL the same, that we are ALL equal in Gods eyes, then we become a better nation, and a better people.

IF YOU LIKE KILLING, MOVE TO FLORIDA

So here we are, George Zimmerman is found not guilty of 2nd degree murder or of manslaughter.

    What does that tell us?

That says that even though he was told not to follow Trayvon, even though he was proven to have lied over and over, even though his wounds were superficial, even though his story kept changing, even though he used racial slurs, even though he had taken defense training, that somehow 6 people were convinced that Zimmerman killed a teenage boy because he was in fear of his life.

And they gave him a pass.

I can only assume that these 6 women were mentally balanced and in control of all their faculties, but I didn't get to see jury selection so all I can do is to assume those things.

However, I did watch the trial with great interest. I watched intently as the defense team attempted to validate the most current story Zimmerman told.

I also kept glued to the proceedings as the prosecutor demonstrated how some of the things Zimmerman claimed occurred would have been impossible to take place.

I watched while Zimmermans uncle claimed he recognized Georges voice screaming for help on the television when he wasn't even watching the news show.

I watched and watched and watched.

After the testimonies and summations were finished, and the jury was instructed by the judge, I concluded that 2nd degree murder was probably not going to stick, but the manslaughter charge was custom made for this case.

When I first heard that he was found not guilty I admit that I was taken by complete surprise. How in this wide wide universe could 6 supposedly rational thinking people ever believe that Zimmerman was acting in self defense?

If your house was burning down and you ran back inside to save that bowling trophy you won 16 years ago, would you blame the fire for your burns? NO! It would be your own stupidity that got you injured.

I will readily admit that my faith in our supposed justice system is weak at best, but how these 6 jurors could abandon the obviously undeniable evidence  presented in favor of proposed scenarios of dubious origin is way, way beyond my comprehension.

The eventual outcome of this event would fit perfectly in the 1960's south, white man kills black teen, not guilty, but this happened in 2013. Are the southern states still that backwards? Is it just the wacky judicial system in Florida?

There are only 6 people who know what took place in those jury deliberations, but there are hundreds of millions worldwide who are totally perplexed as to how those 6 people could possibly render such an obviously flawed decision.

I am a middle aged white man who is enraged about this injustice, I can only assume that blacks are even more so. But then again, black people have been suffering American injustices for centuries now, despite what the authorities attempt to shove down our throats about there is no longer racial unfairness, and that the police don't do racial profiling, the statistics would easily prove otherwise.

Perhaps we can salvage something positive from this, it may get the needed dialogue started to force Americans into facing the fact that we still live in a segregated nation, where minorities are still treated like second class citizens, where opportunities and hope are limited to segments of society.

It is said that a problem cannot be solved until we first admit that a problem exists, well, a problem most certainly exists, and if we truly love this country, we will stand up and defend the principles it was founded on, that ALL people are equally important, that ALL people have a right for the pursuit of happiness.

6 people declared George Zimmerman not guilty, but millions and millions more know that he is a murderer, and he will appropriately  carry that title with him to HIS dying day.

THE SUPREMELY POLITICAL COURT

The founding fathers wrote a Constitution that was to be the cornerstone of our republic, without it's strictly enforced procedures and guidelines they felt that their new nation could not survive for long. These men formed this rule book for democracy based on their experiences with power and how it easily corrupts those who possess it.

   Based on their knowledge of the evils that can erupt from concentrated power, they set forth to limit any one person or entity being able to amass that concentration. They chose to divide that power between 3 different branches of government, they are as follows;

   1. EXECUTIVE: This would include the President, Vice President, and their respective cabinet appointees, ie the Secretaries of State, Defense, Interior, etc. The executive branch is responsible for foreign affairs, and as the name implies, executing the laws that govern the nation, as well as forming public and foreign policies. The executive branch cannot enact any laws on its own, they can only enforce the laws that exist.

   2. LEGISLATIVE: This branch would be comprised of the Senate, and the House of Representatives, together commonly referred to as the Congress. They are the ones responsible for enacting all laws of the land, as well as having the sole power to declare war. The Congress is also in charge of approval of all government funding budgets. The Senate is comprised of 100 members, 2 from each state, the Vice President acts as President of the Senate, but only votes if their is a tie, otherwise he is not afforded a vote on any bills. The House of Representatives has  members that represent particular geographical districts in the U.S. These districts are divided up into population groups to ensure that everybody in the country gets fair and equal representation in Washington D.C. Potential legislation gets debated and approved or rejected  separately in both houses, if approved the legislation goes to the President to either be signed into law, or vetoed. If a President vetoes a particular bill then it goes back to the Congress, if the Congress can attain a majority of 2/3rds of its members, then it can override that veto and become law.

   3. JUDICIAL: This branch includes the Supreme court and all lower courts. The Supreme court is the only court required by the Constitution, all others are established by Congress. Their are currently 9 members of the court, 8 justices and 1 Chief justice, they are all appointed by the President, and must have their appointment confirmed by the Congress. Once confirmed, a federal court judge may only be removed from the bench by impeachment or criminal conviction. This is done to ensure that the justices are free from political pressures in order to be unbiased in their decisions. This branch of government was designed to be specifically non political.

The current Supreme court appears to be anything but non political, of the 9 justices on the court, 5 are established conservatives, and even though political agendas are not to be initiated or maintained in the decisions of the court, it is very apparent that key issues are being decided to facilitate some political agendas, namely, virtually striking down the voting rights act of 1965.

After the civil rights legislation was enacted in the early 60's, it was clear that the suppression of the black vote in certain states could only be ended by the federal government limiting the ability of those states to create illegal and unfair circumstances for those voters. The 1965 voting rights act required states that had a history of voter suppression to submit any proposed voting legislation changes to the Justice department for review before that state could enact it into law. Periodically the Congress reviewed and extended the voting rights act, in 2006 its extension was approved unanimously by the Senate, and by nearly all of the house of representatives. So why did the highest court in America decide that act was no longer needed?

In 2008 America overwhelmingly voted Democratic, even with gerry mandered Republican districting and voter suppression tactics employed, the GOP got their clock cleaned at the polls. They decided to put their tactics on steroids in 2010 and won back the house. They attempted the same strategy in the 2012 elections but the Democrats learned the lessons of 2010 and took to court every state that had voter suppression laws enacted. Most of those cases were won by the Democrats due to the 1965 voting rights act, the states enacted suppression laws without prior approval, thereby rendering them illegal, the result was that Obama was reelected, the Senate majority remained Democratic, and the GOP lost a number of seats in the house.

At this time the GOP is in a death spiral, its outdated message of hate and intolerance have repulsed many voters, its allegiance to big banks, big oil, and the elite 1%  is so blatantly apparent that it's a national embarrassment, its candidate offerings consist of corrupt bigots and idiots whose only concern for the people is that they will believe the next round of bullshit they're being fed. Their arrogance have alienated them from all minority voters and most women voters. And instead of revamping and updating their political policies and platform, the GOP has decided that they will just keep on the same path, if they can't win the minority vote, then they will do everything possible to keep minorities from voting.

That's where the Supreme courts decision comes in, now that they declared section 4 of the voting rights act unneeded, it opens the gate for Republican led state legislators to pass laws inhibiting minority turnout. With all the evidence of attempted voter suppression witnessed in 2012, the Supreme court now says that suppression no longer exists and the law is not needed. If that isn't a totally political move by the conservative justices, then they are just so far removed from reality that they should be removed from power.

After allowing the citizens united case to succeed, and now removing the voter safeguards from the voter rights act, the conservative members on the Supreme court are displaying their true allegiance, not to you, me, or the Constitution of the United States. They are willingly breaking the sworn oath they have taken, and in true GOP fashion have told the people of America to fuck off. These arrogant bastards are a vile corruption of what the founding fathers had in mind for the highest court in the land.

The act has gone  back to Congress for re-authorization of section 4, but what matters is that the supposed un-political court has again proven to be just another tool to be used by the GOP.

Justice Has Left The Building

When I watch shows on television such as "Law and Order," or any that dramatize the legal and judicial profession, I have to constantly stop myself from being critical of the reality they portray and remind myself to just relax and try to enjoy the story.

That's because the main fiction in those shows isn't the storyline; it's the way they depict how the system works.

From initial arrest to eventual outcome our modern legal system consists of people seemingly devoid of compassion and fair-mindedness. Starting with the cops who, depending on how much you piss them off, will take extremely wide interpretation of the laws in order to charge you with the maximum number of offenses possible and with the most severe degree possible for those offenses.

I have witnessed numerous times people being charged with first and second-degree felonies for things that are misdemeanors at best, and non-existent on more occasions than you might think. That is a result from society at large being ignorant of what their police departments are up to and the direct acceptance and encouragement of prosecuting attorneys at all levels of government to maximize any charges possible.

These prosecutors know that if they can intimidate someone by threatening massive fines and long prison sentences, it is highly likely that whatever they offer as a plea agreement on lesser charges and softer penalties, will be readily accepted by those accused, out of fear of being locked up for years and years.

The police and the prosecuting attorneys know that most of those charges won't stick. But, if they lose, it only costs them a judgement. On the other hand, if the accused loses, he will lose years of his life and more.

The prosecuting attorney's office is staffed with, perhaps, the most callous, heartless, ruthless and cynical members of all law-enforcement branches. They know that the more convictions they achieve, the better their résumé looks.

TV programs showing prosecutors exhibiting remorse for the accused being found guilty make me laugh. They couldn't possibly care any less about those they put away. And since a high percentage of those accused end up with court-appointed attorneys who get paid a flat fee for their representation, the advice almost always given is to "just take the deal." Thereby freeing up that court-appointed attorney to handle cases for which he's getting paid ten to twenty times the amount he gets from those the courts give him.

Blind justice no longer resides in this nation, only a legal grist mill run by uncaring self-centered people who do not see someone as an individual citizen who is innocent until proven guilty, but as a commodity, to be used in any fashion needed for the attainment of their personal goals
